Deleting Skills

Top  Previous  Next

The skills information in the system is included in information about jobs and it is imperative to have accurate Job information and history in the system in order to correctly create and analyze learning and growth data using the Competency Reviews.  To ensure this data integrity, skills can not be deleted if they are linked  to an Employee, Job or Competency Review.

Make the Skill Inactive

The alternative to deleting the skill is to make the it inactive. An inactive skill will still retain all historical Learning and Growth information intact on the Competency Reviews intact. The skill can be made inactive on the Skill Details screen (see Skills/Certifications).

Skills Linked to Jobs

If the skill is linked to one or more Jobs, they can be identified using the Linked Jobs report (from the Skills View Box). The skill can be unlinked from the Job by using the Job Skills screen in the Jobs function.

Skills Linked to Employees

If the skill is linked to one or more Employees, they can be identified using the Linked Employees report (from the Skills View Box).  The skill can be unlinked from the Employee by using the Employee Skills List button in the Employees function.

Skills Linked to Reviews

If the skill is linked to one or more Competency Reviews then it can not be deleted unless the Competency Reviews are deleted. The Competency Reviews the skill is linked to are identified in the Linked Reviews report (from the Skills View Box). Competency Reviews can be deleted in the Maintain Reviewers function.
